na na na naaa, na na na naaa…
April 22, 2009

hey hey hey, goodbye.
years ago, when Barnes & Noble first opened their doors here in Montgomery, there was a whole lotta’ trepidation as to what the impact on local booksellers would be. this was, of course, after the opening of Books-A-Million.
BAM is still here, but as of June, B&N no longer will be.
yup, sorry. there’s no way i can look at this in anything other than a gracious light. i’m the product of a family that works at, operates, and owns the last remaining true full-fledged independent bookseller in Montgomery, so B&N can suck it.

I am going to go ahead and say it…a little harsh. I understand the underlying sentiment, but people will lose jobs, and money (albeit obviously not as much as it used to be…hence the closing) are going to be leaving our cities economy.
A little too harsh.
(insert snarky remark)
while i am sorry for the folks whose jobs are gone, am really glad that the little guy gets to win for once.
am desperately supporting my local independent fabric store in the hope they get to win, too.
