simple BBT rant
June 4, 2010
hey BB&T. i’m sure you may ultimately wind up being quite lovely after all the weird kinks are worked out, post-conversion from Colonial.
but hey man, lemme tell you: its not fun going into a store to buy stuff for LAP with our LAP Business Checking card… and be declined. why? oh, that’s right… you’ve yet to get us the new BB&T branded cards in the mail. in the meantime, while we wait on them, ya cancelled our Colonial branded cards. and hey, we knew that would happen, we knew that after June 1st, they would be cancelled, but hey, i kinda’ sorta’ figured maybe since you hadn’t given us the new cards, you wouldn’t cut us off at the knees.
HAHA JK JK JK. joke’s on us. but seriously, GIVE US OUR CARDS. we like to keep things separated for tax purposes, and i don’t like using our personal finances for business stuff. and since we still don’t have our new account numbers, we can’t transfer money from the LAP PayPal account to the new home.
c’mon.

It will not get better. Leave while you can, (I hope my anti-BBT speech is not too off putting). But seriously, leave now.
When WaMu was taken over (let’s face it, none of these are conversions) by Chase, the first year was fine. Nothing really changed, we still have our WaMu cards, our branches stayed open, etc. Suddenly, things began to change. Fees were added, every trip to the branch was met with a sales pitch for this or that, now we’re getting the “your WaMu card won’t work if you don’t switch now” stuff. All this to say, the “consolidation” of the banking sector is so drastically limiting choices that we’re left with little option than complain and stick it out.
I live in bbt country. Run! Quickly! Is BOA down there? Or even better, joon a credit union.
Yep, local credit union.
